How to Host an Alpha
Alpha is hosted all around the world by individuals, churches and organisations who are looking to create welcoming spaces for life-changing conversations about the Christian faith.
Every Alpha session has 3 key ingredients
Alpha can look different, depending on the context you are hosting it in, but generally, each Alpha session includes three elements: time to connect, time to watch an Alpha video or listen to a talk, and time for discussion.
Connection
Whether in person over a meal or virtually with a cup of tea, all sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships. Eating food together creates space for people to connect and share life on a deeper level.
Content
The Alpha talks are designed to engage people from all walks of life and inspire conversation. They explore big questions like “Who is Jesus?” and “How does God guide us?”
Conversation
The discussion time is an opportunity for people to respond to the talk, hear from others and contribute their own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
3 Ways to Host Alpha
In-Person
Anywhere where people gather, be it in churches, homes, prisons, schools, workplaces and so forth, Alpha can be run. Your Apha group can gather around a table, classroom, or lounge to enjoy a meal together and have a safe and honest conversation.
Online
The same Alpha content can be hosted fully online. There is still a talk and small group discussions, with the option of sharing a virtual meal with guests before the session.
Hybrid
Alpha is adaptable. You can start hosting Alpha in-person with full confidence that should circumstances change, you will be able to move online with ease. You can also combine online and in-person during a single session for guests who cannot be in the room.
Where are you running Alpha?

Alpha in Prisons
Alpha creates a space where prisoners can ask life’s big questions about faith and meaning in a safe environment and find hope in dark circumstances.
Alpha in the Workplace
Alpha in the Workplace empowers Christians to be effective witnesses wherever they work.
